Member Workshop: Data in practice: Suicide mortality data

Registration is closed for this event

About the Event:

Following the success of our data webinar in December 2021, we’re partnering with the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) to deliver a series of data webinars throughout 2022.

Our Data in Practice series will take a deep dive into the Suicide and Self-Harm Monitoring System. This new, national system is the most comprehensive collation of data for deaths by suicide as well as self-harming and suicidal behaviours. It’s designed to improve the quality, accessibility, and timeliness of data on suicide and self-harm and to support policy makers, researchers, and practitioners to drive better outcomes.

Members are invited to join the first workshop in this series as Unit Head Chris Killick-Moran and his team talk us through suicide mortality datasets and how this data can support better suicide prevention policy and practice in Australia. Future webinars will look more closely at hospital and ambulance data as well as a range of modelling and research available through the Suicide and Self-Harm Monitoring System.
