Peak suicide prevention body calls for more support for the unemployed

Australia’s peak suicide prevention organisation today called on the Federal Government to use labour market policy and effective re-employment support as appropriate interventions in the fight to reduce Australia’s suicide rate by 50 per cent in 10 years. Chief Executive Officer of Suicide Prevention Australia, Sue Murray said action was required now to mitigate risk factors among vulnerable communities and individuals as Australia enters a period of economic adjustment.
