Community Summer Picnic – say ‘Yello’ to the New Year

Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshores Jordan Esplanade, COFFS HARBOUR, NSW, Australia

The holiday season can be a tricky time for some, especially if people are without social or family supports. So, some of us from the local Wesley Mission Suicide Prevention Network - Coffs Coast Suicide Prevention Initiative - thought it may be nice to have a social event instead of a meeting in January. Come along anytime after 11am on Tuesday 9th January 2024 for a Community Summer Picnic. Everyone is welcome, and the gathering is BYOE (bring your own everything), as we are not supplying food. We thought it would be nice to gather at the Jetty Foreshores, along Jordan Esplanade, Coffs Harbour. The theme is Yellow, so bring out your summer yellowness, your picnic rug, and look out for the yellow decorations near one of the shade shelters. This is not a supervised event so please ensure all dependents are cared for. Look forward to seeing some new faces there.

Launch of the Hanging Rock Water Tanks Mural Project, Batemans Bay NSW

Hanging Rock Sporting Complex Beach Rd, Batemans Bay, NSW, Australia

All community members are warmly invited to attend the launch of the Hanging Rock Water Tanks Mural Project on Friday 19 April at 3pm. The murals will serve as an enduring reminder to have conversations around mental health and suicide prevention, especially with young people. This location will become a place where events with a goal to raise awareness; education on self-care and support; and reducing suicide in our community can take place. The realisation of this community project is thanks to the vision and dedication of Deanne and Pat Griffin in tribute to their son, Sean. Members of the Bega Valley Eurobodalla Suicide Prevention Collaborative are working with Deanne and Pat to plan and deliver the murals and the launch event. Mural collaboration between BOHIE and Sion from Kraken Kreative. Community members can RSVP here to stay updated, or just come along on the day. This is a free community event so please consider sharing this invitation with your networks and encourage community members to get involved. We gratefully acknowledge the project funding from DRNSW's Office for Regional Youth as part of the Youth Community Coordinator Initiative. Backbone team of the Collaborative is proudly funded by COORDINARE - South Eastern […]

Webinar: Project Management in Lived Experience roles

Online , Australia

“Most of us stumble into project management and realise we’re doing it when our project is already underway.” - Liz Asser, Inservice Training Officer, Lived Experience Australia More and more people with lived experience are stepping into and leading projects in the mental health space. While providing a fantastic opportunity to draw upon their lived experience to make a difference in mental health, these project environments can sometimes feel chaotic and unclear. A lack of structure and uncertainty can trigger threat responses, impact wellbeing and hinder people’s ability to deliver much-needed initiatives.   The discipline of project management can bring order and clarity to project environments, supporting lived experience workers to feel safe to draw upon their lived experience, achieve their objectives, and maintain their wellbeing. In this webinar we will share how lived experience workers can start to build their own project management toolkit through a lived experience approach to project management.   We will explore the key elements that we need to get right when kicking off and then executing a project. Upfront it’s all about shared purpose, robust planning, defined scope and clear roles and responsibilities. During execution it’s all about collaboration, tracking progress, course correction, and […]
