Zero Suicide in Healthcare: From International Declaration to Local Action

27 February 2017 to 28 February 2017

We are delighted to host the third international gathering of Zero Suicide in Healthcare leaders next month to collaborate and create a framework to tackle the challenge of suicide across a global network. This By-Invitation Match meeting is being held as part of the 2017 International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership (IIMHL) Leadership Exchange in Sydney. Our CEO Sue Murray will co-host the event with USA based expert David Covington.

Four countries were represented in Oxford in 2014. Thirteen nations gathered in Atlanta in 2015 from which came Zero Suicide: International Declaration for Better Healthcare which has been viewed more than 5,000 times in more than 20 countries.

At this Sydney match we expect to have 15 to 20 countries participating to share experiences and learnings including why they started, who they are serving, how they got started and what has happened in the first years. We will share accomplishments, review challenges and craft next steps. And, we will engage an action plan to further the dissemination and implementation of the Zero Suicide Declaration so that all WHO nation states have a comprehensive suicide prevention plan that adopts the principles that will make suicide care a central focus for behavioral health and integrated healthcare systems.
