We collaborate with our members, organisations, governments, businesses, researchers, practitioners, and those with lived experience to reduce suicide rates in Australia. The Role
As the Communication Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of our communications strategy, driving engagement with our members, and reinforcing our value proposition. You’ll lead campaigns, manage diverse projects, and deliver high-quality content tailored to a wide range of stakeholders, including researchers, practitioners, and the broader community.
This role is a 6-month Mat Leave cover with possible extension.
Key Responsibility Areas
Strategy and campaign management:
- Use customer segmentation to tailor and target communications effectively to different audience groups, ensuring the right messages reach the right people.
- Collaborate with the Membership Team to drive engagement and retention strategies and support key campaigns like World Suicide Prevention Day.
- Develop and implement a segmented membership communications strategy that targets distinct audiences with relevant messaging and resources.
Member engagement:
- Create and manage content for monthly member briefs, alerts, and other communications, ensuring engagement with the right segments of the SPA membership.
- Relationship management with members by amplifying member activities and resources.
Social media and event marketing:
- Lead SPA’s social media strategy, ensuring posts are tailored to reach the right audience segments and monitoring engagement metrics.
- Utilise email marketing, social media, and digital tools to promote events and increase registrations, while continuously refining messaging to match audience preferences.
Website and internal communications:
- Manage the SPA website, ensuring it serves as a key resource for members and the public, with content designed to meet the needs of different audience groups.
- Implement internal communication strategies to keep staff informed, ensuring that messaging is relevant to internal stakeholders’ needs
About You
You are an experienced communicator who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You possess excellent writing skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your creativity and strategic thinking will help elevate the impact of Suicide Prevention Australia’s communications and member engagement efforts.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to create content for various audiences.
- Experience managing social media platforms, digital marketing, and content creation.
- Exceptional project management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines.
