The opportunity
The StandBy Regional Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the StandBy suicide postvention services across the site of the Northern Territory Primary Health Network region.
This position involves coordinating and overseeing service delivery to individuals, families and communities bereaved and/or impacted by suicide, community development and engagement, education, and training, as well as leading the StandBy support team.

The opportunity
The StandBy Regional Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the StandBy suicide postvention services across the site of the Northern Territory Primary Health Network region.
This position involves coordinating and overseeing service delivery to individuals, families and communities bereaved and/or impacted by suicide, community development and engagement, education, and training, as well as leading the StandBy support team.
Some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate StandBy suicide postvention services across the StandBy site of the Northern Territory Primary Health Network region and ensure quality delivery in line with the StandBy Model.
- Manage and undertake community engagement and education across the region, facilitating a variety of related activities and workshops. This also includes upskilling and training external services in suicide bereavement service provision.
- Ensure notifications and support requests are handled sensitively and in line with the StandBy Model.
Oversee the use of supervision per the StandBy Professional Supervision Framework and maintain the StandBy NT Advisory Group, ensuring it meets quarterly. - Input and analyse data in the StandBy database, ensuring accuracy and observing trends. Complete all relevant reporting requirements and ensure compliance with service provision metrics.
- Manage the performance and professional development of the Lived Experience StandBy Lead Worker and Support Team. This encompasses recruitment, coordination, supervision, and day-to-day leadership.
What you will need?
Essential
- An understanding of and experience in suicide postvention service provision and associated issues, bereavement and/or related disciplines such as trauma, grief, and loss with demonstrated evidence of sector engagement, community development and partnerships.
- Relevant qualifications or substantial experience in a relevant allied health or community services discipline including psychology, mental health, social work, or counselling.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is desirable (however preferred applicant will be supported to obtain upon recruitment).
Other requirements
- Regular travel throughout the region is a requirement for this position.
- Hold a current ‘C’ class driver licence.

Selection Criteria (please respond to the below criteria in your cover letter)
- Demonstrated history of working with people bereaved by suicide and/or dealing with severe personal trauma.
- Experience and skills in critical response management, crisis support, and self-care management practices.
- Knowledge and skills in proactive community capacity building including accessing networks to undertake collaborative activities.
- Demonstrated understanding of engagement with lived experience, and the use of co-design paradigms.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication, both written and verbal, including public speaking, facilitation, consultation.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, to prioritise, meet deadlines and see projects through to completion, on time and within budget.
