Matthew McLean

Biography: Matthew McLean is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Suicide Prevention Australia. He has over a decade of experience in public policy development, advocacy and implementation. He has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Masters of Corporate and Commercial Law from Bond University and serves as an Alumni Member of Bond University Limited.

During his time in the Commonwealth Department of Social Services he led work on the McClure Welfare Review, Australia Priority Investment Approach and roll-out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. While in the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet he oversaw teams leading work on child protection, social housing and the Office of Social Impact Investment.

Matthew has also served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Leader of the Opposition and in research positions at the Centre for Law, Governance and Public Policy and the Office for Learning and Teaching. Matthew joins Suicide Prevention Australia with a long-standing commitment to suicide prevention and a lifelong passion for using policy to drive a positive social impact.
