***Call for system reform to reduce suicides while in care

A new approach is required to more effectively support people who are suicidal while in health care according to Mr David Covington, co-lead of the American Clinical Care and Intervention Task Force and one of the authors of the report Suicide Care In Systems Framework.

Mr Covington, in Sydney this week as a guest of Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA), will discuss with those working in mental health and suicide prevention the changes that are required to achieve zero suicide deaths in health care.

Mr Covington will share his experiences with a range of stakeholders from the mental health and suicide prevention field as well as members of the National Coalition for Suicide Prevention
