Since early 2013, SPA has been working closely with our Lived Experience Committee to better understand the needs of those who have been touched by suicide.
We have also been undertaking an organisational strategic review process and talking to many stakeholders across Australia. These conversations led us to the conclusion that there was a clear need to focus on strengthening the voice of those who have been touched by suicide. This would be vital in reducing the stigma which prevents people from seeking help, offer opportunities for healing, and improve our understanding of suicide and its prevention. This work has culminated in the development of the draft Lived Experience Network Strategy.
The draft Lived Experience Network Strategy was launched at the SPA Members & Experts Forum on 24 July, 2013, as part of the National Suicide Prevention Conference.
