Full text of the letter noted below:
"Sadly, suicide is too common in Australia today and its repercussions have a profound effect on all of us. Suicide is terribly complex and a serious public health issue that needs long term attention. There are no simple answers, no single cause and no easy plan of attack.
But, we do know that it is mostly preventable. And it is here that Suicide Prevention Australia works to support more Australians to live.
Today, as Patron of Suicide Prevention Australia, I would like to congratulate SPA on 25 years of service. I would also like to thank each and every one of SPA’s colleagues and friends who put their heart, soul and expertise into saving lives every day.
There is hope. I see it in the eyes and actions of everyday Australians working hard each day to prevent suicide. Thank you for all you do."
