Suicide Prevention Australia is pleased to announce the opening of the nomination period for the 2011 LiFE Awards.

The LIFE Awards occur each year with the aim of recognising the outstanding and exciting work being done within the suicide prevention sector by individuals, communities and business. This year the number of categories has grown to reflect the changing nature of suicide prevention and the means in which it is undertaken.

The categories for 2011 are:

  • Business and Industry,
  • Health Communities,
  • Indigenous Award,
  • Media (Print),
  • Media (Non-print),
  • Social Media,
  • Public Sector,
  • Youth,
  • Lifetime Research and
  • Emerging Research

We encourage everyone to get involved and nominate someone or an organisation they think is achieving great things in suicide prevention. The awards this year will be presented on World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10th at The Dome in Melbourne, with each winner receiving an expense paid trip to receive their award in person.

The judging panel consists of government representatives, community leaders, various SPA Board members and specialist in most categories.
