Media Release – Governor-General encourages all Australians to help prevent suicide

The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) will officially open Australia’s leading suicide prevention conference when he addresses almost 400 delegates on Monday 26 July 2015 at the at the Grand Hotel Chancellor Hobart.

Chief Executive of leading national organisation, Suicide Prevention Australia, Ms. Susan Murray, said she welcomed the Governor-General’s involvement in the 2015 National Suicide Prevention Conference:

“The Governor-General’s history of service to the nation and the community makes him uniquely suited to speak about how our leaders can unite the great diversity we enjoy in culture, geography and lifestyle in Australia. We are also keen to learn from his experience of suicide prevention for our defence personnel as well as how we can more effectively build resilience in response to natural disasters and larger scale community crises.”
