Dear Friends, it is with great sadness that I need to share with you that one of the great stalwarts and powerful voices for lived experience, most recently in her role as National Mental Health Commissioner, Jackie Crowe, sadly died this weekend.
Jackie was a true friend to SPA, always ready with praise and never one to hold back when advice was needed.
As our Board Director Matthew Tukaki said last year when he presented Jackie with the 2016 Leadership LiFE Award for Excellence in Suicide Prevention (photo of Award Ceremony above), "She is a woman who challenges us, who guides us, who welcomes new opinions and ways of working. She has often brought a tear to my eye and even more so a smile to my face."
Jackie will be remembered by all of the SPA team and our many members for her warmth and deep affection for her friends and colleagues. Our heartfelt condolences to Jackie's family.
A number of our colleagues have shared tributes to Jackie online, lovely words for an amazing lady. I have included a few of them below for you to read in your own time:
- The Hon. Greg Hunt MP: Statement on Jackie Crowe
