Philippa's Story

31 August 2016

“This year I wanted to fundraise for Suicide Prevention Australia because it’s 10 years since I lost my dad to suicide. I have always wanted to run the City2Surf and I've always wanted to raise funds for a cause close to my heart. So I decided to combine the two this year in the hope that suicide awareness saves even just one life.”

“Having lost a number of family and friends to suicide, I wanted to raise awareness and also support a cause that was doing its part to actively reduce the incidence of suicide -  so what better cause than Suicide Prevention Australia.”

“I couldn't  recommend fundraising for SPA more highly; it was great to receive phone calls and emails to thank us for our donations and to know they were going to an important cause.”

“Finishing the City2Surf, and knowing that I not only achieved a personal goal, but also I was able to give back to a cause and raise awareness of suicide”.

“Sharing on social media is the most productive way of spreading the word of your fundraising and you know that the message of SPA is getting across as more and more people read your post.”

“Next year, and hopefully for many years to come, I will be running the City2Surf and raising money for Suicide Prevention Australia so that I can support a cause that has supported my family and friends.  Fingers crossed, next year Ben, David and I will have even more runners for our team - Running for SPA.”
