We were pleased to see the Marriage Equality Bill passed in the House of Representatives last night.
A number of our Member Organisations advocated strongly for this to happen and, as well as working together on a range of public and behind the scenes campaigning, published Position Statements in support of marriage and relationship equality.
Suicide Prevention Australia acknowledges the work being done by our members and others to strengthen LGBTI health and wellbeing with specific support for suicide prevention policies and programs.
A reminder of the Australia Institute and the National LGBTI Health Alliance preliminary survey results in relation to the stress impacts associated with the debate during the lead up to the postal survey results announcement. Suicide prevention and mental health services continue to be on hand to support individuals who have experienced an increased sense of vulnerability throughout this process as well as those around them.
