The HealthWISE Suicide Prevention program is an innovative model which incorporates clinical and lived experience support as well as community and health professional capacity building. The program includes those bereaved by suicide as well as those affected by historical suicides and/or attempts. The impact of suicides, especially on small rural and/or small Indigenous communities is widespread, ongoing and must be an important consideration in an effective aftercare model.
The objective of the Suicide Prevention Program is to contribute to reducing the number of people who die by suicide and decrease the number of individuals who attempt suicide or experience suicidal crisis in NSW by providing timely, compassionate and appropriate support to individuals who have attempted suicide and support for people affected by a death by suicide.
