Parents Beyond Breakup (PBB) is a national suicide prevention charity that supports parents experiencing trauma related to family breakdown, child access and custody issues, and separation. Separation from their former partner and from their children is a key psycho-social factor closely linked to those most at risk of suicide in Australia.
Every child deserves the best start in life and that is why PBB works so hard to keep separated parents alive and in their children’s lives.
Support is provided by Lived Experience Peers – dads supporting dads, mums supporting mums. The model shifts emphasis away from treatment for chronic mental health and towards practical coping and resilience building skills which are shown to be extremely effective at reducing isolation, hopelessness, and associated suicidality.
