PeersWALK is a 3hr workshop delivered by Parents Beyond Breakup, designed to upskill peers (e.g., separated mums / dads) to appreciate the unique nature of situational distress, related suicidal ideation and, how to intervene to reduce or prevent the likelihood of suicide.
PeersWALK trains attendees to recognise and react to the warning signs that a fellow peer may be at risk of suicide and how to help manage their situation until they can be connected to the care of relevant professionals. E.g., psychiatrist, ASIST trained persons, etc.
PeersWALK deals specifically with Situational Distress vs Chronic Mental Health issues in suicidal ideation, one of the key risk factors for men and women experiencing trauma related to family breakdown and loss of access to children.
