Dr Sharna Mathieu is a Research Fellow and early career researcher at the Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP) & WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Suicide Prevention, School of Applied Psychology, Griffith University. Dr Mathieu’s PhD research was investigating the role of the family in the development and maintenance of youth obsessive-compulsive disorder. More recently, her research has largely focused on work related mental health promotion and suicide prevention, collaborating with those with lived experience, other academics, and non-governmental organisations in evaluating suicide and self-harm programs and services, and working with regional experts to develop a framework for self-harm surveillance across the Western Pacific.
