Suicide Prevention Australia is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 PhD Scholarships and Post-Doctoral Fellowships funded by the Suicide Prevention Research Fund.
This is the sixth time the PhD Scholarships have been funded by the Suicide Prevention Research Fund. They join a cohort of more than 20 researchers who have received funding over the past five years.
Valued up to $155,000 per scholarship, it supports outstanding graduates who are at the early part of their research career.
The scholarship aims to:
- support excellent clinical and applied research for those undertaking research in the suicide prevention field
- advance promising early career researchers and promote enhanced opportunities for diverse career pathways
- enable research and research training in high-quality and supportive environments
- expand Australia’s knowledge base and research capability
- enhance the scale and focus of research relevant to the Suicide Prevention Research Fund priorities.

Post-Doctoral Fellowships
This is the sixth time the Post-Doctoral Fellowships has been funded by the Suicide Prevention Research Fund. They join a cohort of more than 19 researchers who have received funding over the past five years.
The Post-Doctoral Fellowships, valued at up to $360,000 per fellowship, provides funding for successful applicants, who have already attained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), to further their research career.
The Post-Doctoral Fellowships aims to:
- develop and expand evidence to support innovative interventions across the spectrum of suicide prevention
- foster the expansion and development of research leadership in suicide prevention
- enhance the scale and focus of research relevant to the Suicide Prevention Research Fund priorities
- contribute to the evidence base to inform and improve future services, systems and policies related to suicide prevention in Australia.
