Emma was first elected as the Federal Member for Dobell on the Central Coast of NSW in 2016, and in 2019 was appointed Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Shadow Assistant Minister for Carers.

Before entering Parliament, Emma worked as a pharmacist for almost 20 years.

Emma worked as a specialist mental health pharmacist at Wyong Hospital and became their Chief Pharmacist in 2008, before being appointed a Deputy Director of Pharmacy for Central Coast Local Health District in 2016.

As a pharmacist and local MP, mental health and well-being is one of Emma’s top priorities.

Emma also helped her mother Barbara care for her father and her grandmother, who both lived with dementia, and that experience has turned her into a strong advocate in Canberra for carers across Australia.

She uses her portfolio as Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Carers to champion support for people living with mental ill health and to increase the support and recognition of carers nationwide.
