Join us for the 2023 SPAN Suicide Awareness Walk on Sunday 10 September from 9:30am at Johnstone Park in Geelong. The Geelong-based SPAN (Suicide Prevention Awareness Network) group has been holding its Suicide Awareness Walk annually since 2010. A dream of SPAN’s founding members, the Walk is a positive and active family and community event where people who have been directly or indirectly affected by suicide can come together and pay tribute to lost loved ones, offer support to others who are hurting and, ultimately, embrace the gift of life. The Walk is a safe, welcoming and supportive space for people bereaved by suicide, walking together in memory of loved ones, reducing the stigma and raising awareness around suicide, and connecting with others on the same grief journey to know we are not alone. This year, registration is free. We are inviting Everyone to the Macedon Ranges Suicide Prevention Walk on World Suicide Prevention Day with the continued theme Creating Hope Through Action -We all have a role to play. As our community continues to be impacted by suicide, Macedon Ranges Suicide Prevention Action Group believes we can all play a role in supporting people with mental ill-health, suicide ideation and those who are bereaved. This is a pet-friendly event, with music, speeches, and a walk of the Woodend township and beautiful 5 Mile Creek (approx.4 kms), before returning to the park where coffee and food will be available. Walk for Suicide Prevention

Every year Chasing Change acknowledges World Suicide Prevention Day by hosting an annual Walk for Suicide Prevention where the community is invited to come together to commemorate this day and reflect together on the lives lost to suicide. From 9am you can get yourself a cuppa, something to eat, catch up, connect, grab your ribbon, and check out the information and merch stalls. From 10am formalities will commence including guest speakers, a memorial roll call, and then the walk. An important part of this event is the memorial roll call where the names and ages of those lost to suicide are read out during a moments silence. Ringwood Lake Remembrance walk and vigil : World Suicide Prevention Day

This World Suicide Prevention Day, we welcome you to participate in LifeConnect's Remembrance Walk and Vigil as we raise awareness, remember those lost to suicide and unite in a commitment to prevent further deaths by suicide. We will meet at Ringwood Lake Park by the soundshell between 10:30am and 10:45am - look for the LifeConnect banner! There will be remembrance activities, a candlelit walk around the lake and time for reflection followed by a BBQ for those who would like to stay and connect afterwards. *There will be gluten free and vegetarian options at the BBQ. All human and canine family and friends are welcome - please make sure dogs are on leads :) This event will be presented by Neami National's LifeConnect suicide prevention program in partnership with Maroondah City Council.

Spark Swan Hill

With the help of Rotary Swan Hill, we will be holding a free live music event to help raise awareness and funds for our local mental health services. We have a great line up of local bands including: The Drowning Sorrows, The Known Official, That Guy, Happy Valley Duo (Ballarat), Swan Hill Ukulele Group and More. There will also be yabby races, face painting, kids activity centre, Lions Club spinning wheel, raffles, Sunrise Rotary Sausage Sizzle (with 100% of sales going to the donations), ukulele workshops and loads more. Some of our local mental health organisations will also have stands on the day. Who are we raising money for? Headspace Swan Hill & Swan Hill District Health. All funds raised for Swan Hill District Health will go towards putting as many of our local community through the Mental Health First Aid Course. This course is an early intervention training program that empowers communities by equipping people with knowledge and confidence to recognise, connect and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. Picnic In the Park

Join local mental health and community service providers for a  BYO picnic in the park in recognition of Suicide Prevention Day on Sunday 10 September. Show your support for suicide prevention, to remember a lost loved one and for the survivors of suicide with lighting of candles in remembrance and a gratitude tree. This community event is open to all ages and includes free entertainment and free face painting. A coffee van and sausage sizzle will also be available. #WSPD2023 #weallhavearoletoplay
