State of the Nation in Suicide Prevention

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our 2026 State of the Nation survey and report. This year we received 404 responses across Australia, a record level of support across seven years of the survey.

The 2026 report features detailed insights across 11 key sections:

• Sector at a glance; service delivery; demand, capacity and system pressure; population groups and changing demand; funding and financial sustainability; workforce and capability; lived experience; data and evidence; emerging social and economic risks; whole-of-government and national policy direction and reform priorities.

Suicide Prevention Australia will continue to actively advise government, business and economic leaders about the rising levels of distress in our communities and the urgent need for additional funding. We remain committed to advocating for better support for the sector, to ensure vulnerable members of the community are properly supported during challenging times.
