State of the Nation in Suicide Prevention

Our annual State of the Nation in Suicide Prevention survey gathers in-depth intelligence from our membership and the broader suicide prevention sector. As the national peak body for suicide prevention in Australia, it informs our role as a clear, collective voice for the sector and supports us to work towards our ambition of a world without suicide.

The State of the Nation report is structured in three parts:

  1. State of the sector: Looking at the type of organisations in the sector, their priorities and challenges and the current operating environment.
  2. State of the community: Looking at the current and emerging risks for suicide prevention across the community as well as those groups most at risk.
  3. State of the platform: Looking at the key priorities of our National Policy Platform including whole-of-government reform, accurate, reliable data and workforce strategy.

2026 survey closed

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our 2026 State of the Nation survey. This year we received over 500 responses across Australia, a record level of support across seven years of the survey.

These responses will provide valuable feedback to guide our advocacy efforts and inform government relations. This will ensure that suicide prevention strategies are grounded in the realities faced by communities and service providers across Australia.

We look forward to sharing the 2026 State in the Nation Suicide Prevention report for World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September.
