SAMSN runs Eight-week Support Groups for men who were sexually assaulted in their childhood. These groups are conducted within a safe peer-support environment and are facilitated by two professional counsellors. The facilitators create a safe environment for recovery with clear rules and guidelines for the peer-group to ensure appropriate conduct and confidentiality.
The groups meet weekly for two hours. The first four weeks focus on childhood including exploring the dynamics of child sexual abuse (CSA) and grooming. The final four weeks focus on adulthood and common impacts and coping strategies. The groups are run either in-person or online. To date, SAMSN has run 85 eight-week groups.
