CALM is becoming the most popular Suicide Intervention Skills program in Australia, and here is why: It's a one-day program, reducing clients costs and minimising staff absence. It's Australian researched and based. It's accredited with the peak body Suicide Prevention Australia. Many participants have attended other similar programs and stated how much they love the model and how it's so easy to remember. Underpinned by Motivational Interviewing which research is now showing positive results for suicide prevention/intervention. The CALM Yarn 4-day T4T Workshop The CALM Yarn workshop is a one-day workshop that teaches four key actions: Connect, Ask, Listen, Monitor to build confidence, knowledge and skills. Developed in partnership with the Indigenous Peoples Team at Richmond Fellowship Queensland. The T4T is effectively delivered over 4 days in-person. This ensures that all participants understand the theories, principles and models that underpin the CALM Yarn program; fully grasp and are able to demonstrate their ability to explain and use the culturally appropriate CALM Yarn model of intervention, and gain confidence in their ability to competently deliver this program to their participants. Family & Domestic Violence and Suicide Prevention

In total, 410 people died by suicide in WA in 2017. Among them were 124 women and children. Of that group, 68% were recorded as victims of domestic violence. Furthermore following the November 2023 release of the Western Australian Ombudsman report investigating family and domestic violence and suicide, we want to continue this important conversation and aim to share current best practices and resources for the community. Neami’s Suicide Prevention Coordinators welcome you to hear from key Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) leaders in the space to learn more about what is happening in the FDV landscape and the intersectionality of Mental Health/Suicide Prevention in Perth.
