On 8 October, Relationships Australia launched its 2026 Neighbours Every Day campaign – a leading Australian campaign aimed at connecting communities and turning the tide on loneliness across the country.
With over 5.1 million Australians — 24% of our population — reporting frequent loneliness, the campaign’s new theme “Belonging Every Day” recognises that connection isn’t a one-off event but a daily practice that transforms communities.
Backed by over 20 years of cross-sector partnerships with local governments, not-for-profits and corporates, Relationship Australia’s campaign success is demonstrated through real impact, with 85% of participants reporting knowing their neighbours better after engaging with Neighbours Every Day and 63% reporting improvements in their mental health.
Endorsed in Australia’s National Suicide Prevention Strategy 2025-2035 and referenced by the World Health Organisation as one of the few evidence-backed models globally for addressing loneliness at the community level, Neighbours Every Day provides communities nationwide with free tools and resources to build connection.
The campaign’s annual National Day of Action will be celebrated on Sunday 29 March 2026, providing communities across Australia with a focal point to celebrate and strengthen local connections.
Nick Tebbey, National Executive Officer of Relationships Australia, said: “Neighbour Day is a day of celebration and an excuse to reach out to our community, but the real magic happens when that spirit of connection becomes part of our everyday lives.”
