Overview Suicide prevention training Learn practical skills to support someone in distress. This workshop is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to support someone who may be experiencing distress or suicidal thoughts. Early effective support can make a real difference and save lives. These conversations offer support and a safe space for open discussions while encouraging help seeking. You’ll learn: How to use safe, supportive language How to ask about suicide Active listening strategies Safety planning and self‑care Risk and protective factors How to connect someone with support services. Ensuring participant safety Our workshop material is specifically designed keeping participant’s safety in mind. The course material is vetted by MindFrame – an Australian Government body which provides expert advice to the suicide prevention sector on responsible reporting/portrayal of the issue of suicide. Who should attend? Everyone working in or supporting the community is encouraged to take part. This training is supported by South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network.
