Your feedback needed on our policy positions
Over the years, Suicide Prevention Australia has published issues papers, white papers and other material on a plethora of issues. We covered a lot of ground but, occasionally, this meant our position wasn’t as clear as it could be on some issues.
Now, we’re refocussing our policy and advocacy work in two ways. Firstly, we’re taking the lead in advocating for the systemic ‘umbrella’ reforms we need in suicide prevention: a role suited to our position as the national peak body. Secondly, and just as importantly, we want to amplify the advocacy priorities of our members.
As part of this shift in focus we’re developing short, succinct overviews of Suicide Prevention Australia’s position on fourteen key policy themes. Once finalised, they’ll be published as short sub-pages on our website.
We’d appreciate your feedback on the first four of these position statements:
- Our Guiding Principles of suicide prevention
- Farmer suicide prevention
- Indigenous suicide prevention
- Whole of government approach
These position statements are high level – they’re not intended as research papers or to capture every facet of an issue. Rather, the intention is to create clear, simple statements of our position so that people visiting our website understand where we stand on the issues that matter to the sector.
You can provide your feedback to Rebecca Burdick Davies, our Director, Policy, Advocacy & Government Relations by email at rebeccabd@suicidepreventionaust.org or by phone on 0401619280.
