To mark Men’s Health Week (10-16 June 2024), Doing It Tough is releasing four lived experience blogs. These stories of struggle, resilience and hope offer a window into the lives of four men who choose to share their vulnerability to help support others who find themselves in similar situations. These stories are part of the ‘I found support that worked’ campaign, designed to highlight the many ways to find support and offer hope to men who are doing it tough.
The campaign features a digital component, highlighting the ‘I found support that worked’ videos launched last year. These videos will be featured across Suicide Prevention Australia and the Australian Men’s Health Forum social media channels. This will complement a series of radio ads that will be running across Triple M NSW and FBi radio for the week promoting the campaign.
Funded by NSW Health, Doing It Tough is delivered in partnership by Suicide Prevention Australia and the Australian Men’s Health Forum. The website connects men in NSW with support services, based on where they live, the challenges they face, and the way they want to be supported.
The platform currently contains over 150 male-friendly organisations based throughout NSW that support addiction, relationship challenges, financial difficulties, abuse, mental health, and job-related challenges.
Men’s Health Week is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the importance of suicide prevention for men. Thanks to those with lived experience who have openly shared their stories with Doing It Tough, we hope it will encourage more men to reach out and find the support that works for them.
