Dr Katie McGill of the University of Newcastle was awarded $105,000 for their proposed PhD Scholarship thesis titled:
Using sentinel unit data to inform best practice for hospital-presenting deliberate self-harm.
This Scholarship is sponsored by the Regional Australia Bank.
The project will explore deliberate self-poisoning as it presents in priority groups (e.g. young people, Aboriginal people), and in a regional setting (Newcastle, NSW), as well as investigate the impact on self-harm repetition outcomes of innovative services and policies (e.g. Way Back Support Service, NSW Accredited Persons Program).
